Self Care can be infinitely defined because it means and requires different practices for each individual. With how busy and stressful our lives can become from dealing with physical and mental health, we need Self Care.

Self Care improves our mental well-being and brings us out of those dark places. It improves our physical health by having our mindset focused on positivity.

Creating a Self Care routine that matches your needs and lifestyle is the first step in the right direction. Not all practices work for everyone because we are all born unique and different that makes us who we are. However, here are 5 Self Care practices that can improve your quality of life,  just change and add to reflect who you are!

Time can slip away from us with busy schedules and daily stresses. Thus, why the first practice is making the time for Self Care. Sit down with yourself and look over your week, everyone requires different amounts of time. So if you feel an hour or two is justify then look throughout your schedule and write down Friday 5 -7 PM Self Care.

Keeping up with daily, weekly, or monthly Self Care practices is the key to achieving a happier lifestyle physically mentally and overall quality! In the beginning it might seem that you don’t have time for it but make time! Trust me, you will be glad you did and it will slowly work its way into your schedule and allow you to take the time you deserve!

With busy schedules and daily stresses comes skipping out on meals or binge eating foods that make us feel crappy. Another practice is taking the time to indulge in something that you desire. This can vary from individual, one being a delicious fruit masterpiece or a divine chocolate creation or even street tacos. No matter what you crave take the time to go out or stay in and make that heavenly meal or dessert.

To add onto this practice, just because its Self Care doesn’t mean it has to be alone. If you want to go out to dinner with your best friends and indulge that way, it is also improving your quality of life. The key message here is giving in sometimes to desires and not following a strict lifestyle because life is precious and Self Care is a part of that!

Self Care is about taking the time to treat yourself with a little appreciation for all the hard work you do! Therefore, another Self Care practice is doing just that, treating yourself in a small or big way.

If you feel the week has been hectic and stressful, treat yourself to a spa day or massage. If you feel a little unhappy with yourself, go out and buy yourself an outfit that makes you feel confident.  Feeling nervous about an event or assignment coming up, go out and buy some study tools or anything that will bring you comfort.

The importance of this Self Care practice is to give back to yourself when you need it. Give yourself a pick me up when you need it.  Take the time to celebrate your success and struggles along the way to feel a sense of pride in all aspects of your life!

Mental health has increasingly become a topic of conversation in our society. We see it, we recognize it, now we need to be kind to it! A Self Care practice that is an absolute must no matter how you fit it into your routine, is to be kind to yourself! We all go through experiences, expectations and struggles that can add to our mental health in negative ways. Our way to combat our mental health is by understanding and loving who we are as individuals. We need to give ourselves a hug every once in a while for being as strong as we are and getting us through this thing called life.

Society can place unrealistic body expectations on us but instead of crying over something that makes us who we are we should celebrate it. If you are struggling in school, give yourself a break to breathe and find a way to tackle it in the best way possible for you to do that! Choosing to fill your lifestyle with kind words and happy thoughts will enhance the quality of life and Self Care practices.

Stressful week or anxious thoughts revolving around work, school and life requires a refresh. We often can take ourselves too seriously and never think of pampering, excreting or simply getting a breathe of fresh air to reset. If unwind by partaking in a spa day filled with getting your nails done, then do it! Have a passion for being outdoors and adventurous, take a hike and enjoy the outside views!

However, you choose to refresh this Self Care practice will improve your quality of living. Make the time to do it will help you have a fresh look towards your responsibilities.
